This morning our personal weather station reported that it was -7F at the lowest temperature. When I took this photo around 11:00 am, it had risen to a balmy 20F. This has been a winter for wild temperature swings: on Sunday the high was 60F.

We're having the same kind of winter here. It'll warm up enough to melt the packed snow on the driveway, but it won't stay warm (for February in northern New Hampshire values of "warm", of course) long enough for the melted snow to turn all the way to water and run off into the street. No, it stays warm just long enough to turn the snow into slush, which then refreezes into a solid sheet of ice.

Our driveway is currently impassible on foot, and our car is in the shop. Cabin fever, thy name is me.
