Pikes Peak
I took this photo of Pikes Peak on Tuesday from Black Forest Regional Park. My first year here I was somewhat disconcerted to find that Pikes Peak usually has snow visible eleven months out of twelve. Now I find it comforting, a reflection of the fact that this year the snow pack (a main source of water here in Colorado) is nine per cent over the thirty year average. Last year, the snow pack was half the thirty year average.

Thank you for sharing these wonderful landscape shots (as well as the morning and evening skies). I mentioned [livejournal.com profile] quietspaces' photographs recently in my lj; i should have mentioned yours, too.

Water Good

New residents. . .Hmm, not so great. Hey, here's a thought: start making new home permits contingent on x thousand acre-feet of imported water per homeowner per year. Florida does it with cash, which is just crass. I say make 'em haul in their own damned water. This could work for a lot of places, such as, say, Las Vegas.
