…ago today, Jack and I exchanged vows in my grandmother’s back yard in Mount Airy, Maryland. During the reception the kids played frisbee, and one of my nephews, a toddler at the time, played in the icing on the cake when no one was watching. My grandmother, who had a small house, was concerned about what we would do if it rained, but it was the perfect June day. I’ve been to lots fancier weddings over the years, but none where people had more fun.

If my own marriage had lasted, I'd have 4 years on you, but instead we fell a couple weeks short of 8 years by our own accounting, and 5 months short of 9 by the law. The thirty years reflects well on both you and Jack. Thanks for the account of your wedding; it sounds fun, joyous, and utterly real in all good ways, right down to the toddler and the icing on the cake.
Celebrate -- today and every day. Best wishes for the next 30 years to be even better than the first.

Sounds like you had a nice, low-key wedding that you actually got to enjoy.
