I've checked off several items from the "round tuit" list this week. Monday, Jack and I examined and repaired horse fence, and worked on electrifying the top strand, which should keep them from leaning on the fence and breaking it down. Tuesday, my small animal vet came and gave the dogs their two-year vaccinations.

Wednesday, I got my teeth cleaned. (This was a bit of a shock because when I called at 9:30, she offered an 11:00 am appointment. We agreed on 3:30. My dentist did it, not a hygienist. I like my dentist because he doesn't TALK at his patients. I haven't been very concientious about going to the dentist recently, so it was good to get it out of the way.) Fortunately, I don't need to go back until my next cleaning.

Thursday, I did some more updates to the COSine science fiction convention site. I uploaded those updates this morning.

This afternoon, one of my large animal vets came to give the two horses at home their spring vaccinations. (I use two separate practices for my horses here at home and the horses at my trainer's. It doubles the chance I will be able to find a vet I know in an emergency.) He gently reminded me that it should have been "spring" when the horses got them. He also confirmed my suspicion that there wasn't anything that could be done for Smoke's arthritic right knee. When the knee goes, the horse does.

Since Smoke has reached the respectable age of 27 for a Quarter Horse, this was not earth-shattering news. I have a short list of quality of life items for Smoke, and so far he is doing fine on all of them: maintaining a reasonable weight, minor injuries heal without difficulty, good appetite for his concentrate, able to get up and down to roll and to sleep, moves around the pasture freely, and interacts with his pasture mates. He also still fence fights with the dogs, but I just as soon he would quit that one.

I also washed the kitchen floor. It looks so much better when it is clean.
