Go, columbine!

This is not a very exciting photo until you know that it is a columbine that I planted last summer. Last year was my first year of gardening since we moved to Colorado in 1992. I wasn't expecting to see anything when I stopped at the garden beds while walking my farrier to her truck.


The perennial columbine is the state flower of Colorado, and gorgeous to boot.
