Yesterday morning, before I tackled my agenda for the day, I decided to try Falcon's Eye Net-hack. Ten hours later, I regretfully un-installed it: it had joined the line of other games that I simply can't have on my computer because I spent far too much time playing them. Even worse, although I can spend long hours of typing at the computer without a problem, the repetitive motions involved with games seem to lead rapidly to pain and cramping in my hands and wrists.
Tetris was the first one that I can remember. Even the fact that it had an extremely annoying system for confirming that I had paid for a legitimate version of the game. Each I could play it for hours, and did. Fortunately, none of the Linux versions have quite the pizazz of the Windows 3.1 version that I used to play.
Last fall, after I installed a Linux desktop, I found Frozen Bubble. I managed to leave that on my machine for about a month before I decided to un-install it. After that, I avoided the games section of the start menu for a while.
I had seen a write-up about Falcon's Eye Net-hack in a Linux magazine, and decided to install it from the Synaptic package manager a few weeks ago. I was just going to play for half an hour or so, to learn the game mechanics. Well, I eventually fed the horses, but I am not sure I ever fed the dogs. I was absolutely enthralled by bashing open doors, slaying monsters, and trying to figure out where my character's next meal was coming from.
I am so weak.
